Word of Encouragement

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

It seems like in our family there is always something going on. It could be an athletic event, some kind of dance class or something at school. We seek to be a part in as much as we can be at this time.

Our granddaughter, Caitlyn, is now at TCU and loving it. She is in a sorority that keeps her busy when she isn’t working on her studies. Her sorority provides her with great support. She is so excited about all that God is doing in her life at this time.

We were asked to write letters of encouragement to her so that they could be presented to her. The whole idea is to provide her with more support that she will need as she moves day to day. They want these girls to stay the course in their Christian lives.

We all wrote letters to her, sent them off and they will be presented to her. It only took us a short time to write them, but we are trusting that they will have a long term impact on her life. We want her to know how proud we are of all God is doing in her life.

Of course we desire God to be working in the lives of all our grandchildren. We want them to be able to recognize how God is leading them along the path we call life.

As Paul wrote to the church at Colossae, he wanted to encourage them and let them know that God was with them. It is in what he wrote in chapter 2 that spoke to me. Colossians 2:6-15 says --

6 Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, 10 and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; 11 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

I understand it won’t be easy for anyone, but know that in the midst of all that is taking place, God is there. Encourage someone today that they might grow in their walk with the Lord.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
