Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The question that I had to ask this past week in my life was this. Who’s the boss in my life? I know that sounds like a simple question and the answer is even clearer. Yet at times it can become a little cloudy and the answer doesn’t come as quickly.

For me it depends whether Vicki is around. Don’t get me wrong. Even though I joke that she is bossy, she is just doing what she knows helps me do all the things that I need to do on a day to day basis.

On any given day she will remind me as to what needs to be taken care of and many times, the way they need to be done. I don’t even think anything about it anymore. I just do what she tells me to do because it helps me stay on track and accomplish the tasks that lay before me.

I still determine what I will do first and the follow up. Yet I have come to depend on Vicki (as well as a few others) to help me make sure that I am doing all that needs to be done. I even tell Mindy the things that are coming up so she will remind me what I need to do.

You can call it being bossed around, but I will call it ‘surrendering to their leadership’. I have come to depend on them to help me accomplish all that is going on in my life. The direction they give helps me in my day to day life.

When we talk about surrendering our lives to the Lord, He is the one that takes the position of leading us along life’s journey. He directs us in the path that He desires us to go, then leads us along the way. It is then that we are under His Lordship.

We may still make our own decisions as to what we will do, but either Jesus is going to be Lord of all or He won’t be Lord at all.

Paul said it this way in Philippians 3:7-9 ---- 7 “But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain Christ 9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.

If we are going to let Jesus be Lord of our lives, we must surrender to Him in all things and at all times. It is not just simply doing things a certain way at certain times. It is allowing Jesus to direct us on the path that He desires us to walk.

Sometimes it will be difficult because of our sinful nature, but if we are going to let Jesus be Lord, we will surrender to Him and let Him lead us along life’s path.

Paul went on to say in vv. 13-14 --- “Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one think I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Following Christ will get you where you need to be. So --- Who’s the boss in your life?

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
