Jesus Will Be There

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

I’m not sure how it keeps happening, but every week is filled with so many things. This past week was no different. With the snow on Thursday it added some fun times, but it soon gave way to 60 and 70 degree temps.

On Friday afternoon, Vicki and I headed to Norman so we could watch Timothy play basketball on Saturday morning. When we arrived Vicki decided to do some shopping. We went to a couple of stores and then picked up some food for everyone to eat.

Since Caitlyn is home for the break we got to see her and of course we got to see Camryn and Timothy. We had a really good time just sharing with them. I can tell you that Caitlyn was on top of her game. She was filled with so much fun that you couldn’t help but laugh.

She would say something to you then look like she was going to give you five, then when you moved towards her, she would pull back and just laugh. As we were eating on Saturday before we left, she did it to Memaw. It was so funny to see Vicki’s face when Caitlyn pulled back.

When we got back to their house and were loading up getting ready to leave we were giving hugs. Vicki was going to each of them and hugging them. When she got to Caitlyn, she spread her arms out and just as Caitlyn moved to her, she just turned away! Caitlyn just about lost it. She said she couldn’t believe Memaw would do that!

We all got a good laugh about it, but it made me think. I know that there are many who find themselves in a situation where they are looking for that ‘hug’. They are going through life seeking to find someone that will give them that touch but they don’t get it.

Leprosy was something that isolated people from friends and family. Many times they had to leave their homes to live alongside other lepers. It was a very difficult and lonely time.

In Matthew 8 we find Jesus encountering a leper. It says – 2 And behold, a leper came to Him, and bowed down to Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” This leper reached out to Jesus, seeking to find the healing that he needed. Then the next verse says – 3 And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus reached out and touched this leper and said that He was willing to make him clean. He didn’t pull back because of the leprosy this man had. He touched him and brought about the healing that was needed.

Often times we are called on to reach out to someone and bring a touch that is needed. It is in those moments that we must reach out and bring that touch. It may be through a prayer, a kind word or some material need we can fill.

Yes, I know that sometimes we can’t fulfill exactly what is asked, but there are times that we can. It is those times when we can bring that right touch, that we bring the love of Jesus into the life of someone.

I promise you that Jesus will never pull back when you need a touch in your life. He will be there for you and bring about the restoration you need. Caitlyn did get a hug from Memaw and things were good. Jesus will be there for you no matter what comes along. Just hold to Him.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
