Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
God sends us blessings so often that many times we simply look over them. Sure there are those blessings that we receive at times that overwhelm us and we just can’t believe we received them. Then there are those times when they come and go before we realize what a blessing we received.
I can’t tell you how many times God has blessed me and I just went on as if it was just another moment in life. I didn’t even recognize at that time that there was a blessing that God had given me. Yet later it hit me right in the face. But on Sunday I was received a blessing as did others and I knew it.
In our worship service we had a family visiting from Missouri. They have been here before to visit with JoAnn Ring. In reality, each time they have blessed us. Yet the blessing this Sunday was one that I considered very special.
A young boy, Archer, said that he wanted to share a song with us. He just wanted to use his voice to give praise to the Lord. He has a wonderful voice and used his voice to not only give praise to the Lord but bless us as well.
He didn’t tell me what he was going to sing, but when he started singing, I was so excited. He sang “There’s Something About That Name.” It was simply amazing! He sang with great conviction and just seemed to let the song speak for him.
Of course, that has been one of my favorites for a long time. I don’t remember exactly when it became a song that spoke to my heart. Yet with all that has taken place in my life and knowing that Jesus brought me through those trials and struggles, I know that there truly is something about that name.
The words are not hard to remember but truly speak to the work that He did and continues to do in the hearts and lives of all who trust in Him. They definitely speak to the fullness of who Jesus is and all that He did for us.
Bill and Gloria Gaither simply wrote --- Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; There’s just something about that name! Master, Savior, Jesus, Like the fragrance after the rain; Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Let all heaven and earth proclaim: Kings and kingdoms will all pass away, But there’s something about that name!
In Matthew 1:20b-21 the angel told Joseph “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 “And she will give birth to a Son; and you shall name Him Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Jesus means “Yahweh is salvation”.
In Acts 4 when Peter was asked by whose authority and name the lame man was healed, he told them. In Acts 4:10-12 Peter shared -- 10 “let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by this name this man stands here before you in good health. 11 He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.”
Archer shared with us that there’s something about the name of Jesus. He shared with me on Sunday night that his grandpa told him that God had something special for him. Then he said, “I want to share Jesus with others.” He definitely did at Highland on Sunday morning! That’s why I say ----
JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!
Christ only, always,
Bro. Paul
