I'm Thankful for...

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow.  I know a few things that I’m thankful for, but when I look on all that God has blessed me with, there is much more for which I need to give thanks.

I am thankful for God.  I am thankful that He has looked upon me with love and sent His Son to die for me.  I’m thankful He is the Only God.  Isaiah 44:6 says – “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and His Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides me.’”

I am thankful that regardless of where I may be that He is there with me.  I am thankful that He walks with me as I call upon Him in faith and will be with me through it all.  I am thankful He knows my pain and I can ‘cast all my cares on Him because He cares for me.’ (1 Peter 5:7).  I am thankful He is my friend and I know that He will never leave me and no one can take me from His hand.  (Jn. 10:28)

I am thankful I have a forgiving God.  I can confess my sins to Him and find forgiveness.  I fail, and do I ever mess up!  I’m thankful that my God will hear the cry of my heart as I confess my sin and He will hear me.  (1 Jn. 1:9)

I am thankful that I can entrust my life to Him, share the desires of my heart and know that He will lead me.  I can entrust each step I take to Him and He will show me the path I need to walk.  But what is so awesome is that He has promised to never leave me not forsake me.  (Heb. 13:5)

I am thankful He knows when I’m hurting in my heart.  I hurt when Vicki, my children or my family is hurting.  I hurt when a friend hurts.  I hurt when a family is torn apart by sin, someone is struggling with a disease, facing a difficult surgery or when a death comes.  I’m thankful He has promised His presence in those times.

I’m thankful that God gives me joy (Jn. 15:11).  My joy is full and complete in Him.  It doesn’t depend on my circumstances.  The world can’t take my joy.  As the song says, ‘The world didn’t give it to me and the world can’t take it away.’

The joy that I, and every Christian has, does not depend on how much money, how many possessions or how many friends we have.  It depends solely on the One who gives us His abiding joy.  I’m thankful that joy is a fruit of the Spirit.

I’m thankful that God gives me peace.  In the midst of the turmoil of our world, I have peace that My God is in control.  It is a peace that passes all understanding (Phil. 4:7).  It is a peace that leaves this temporal realm and rests at the throne of God.  It is a peace that is spoken from the mouth of my Savior which says - "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”  (John 14:27).

I am thankful for God’s grace.  I’m thankful that it comes to me where I am to lift me to where He wants me to be.  I’m thankful that His grace is not confined to one moment, but is there for every moment.  One song says – “God’s grace is enough for me.”  And it is enough for all who call upon Him.

I’m thankful that God’s grace has reached my life and by faith has brought salvation to my soul.  (Eph. 2:8-9)  I’m thankful that His grace has kept me through it all.  I’m thankful that Jesus died for me and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God and lives to make intercession for me.  (Heb. 7:25)  I’m thankful that Holy Spirit gives guidance each step of the way and I don’t have to walk through life alone.

Life won’t always be easy, but God will always be God.  I am thankful that He has promised His presence.  As you come to this Thanksgiving Day, let your heart be thankful to God for all the blessings He has given you.

Let me share one last thought with you.  I thank God for you and pray His richest blessings on you.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
