God's Got This

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

I know that many are struggling with all that has been taking place over the past couple of months. I have talked with senior adults that just get out in their back yards to get out of the house. I’ve talked with parents whose kids are bouncing off the walls. No matter what age group you are in, things have been tough.

Our daughter, Chandra, lives in Rochester, NY. She has been working from home and walking her two kids through their school work. Last Friday she sent out a text which said that Governor Cuomo had closed schools in NY for 2019-2020. She put some emojis with big tears. Then she said – ‘School is closed the rest of this year. I knew it was going to happen but still – very sad.’

I know it has already happened in Texas and other states, but it still was hard on her. For Chandra and all the other parents that are seeking to provide their children with activities that will keep their learning moving forward it is difficult. This is a tough time on those raising children and now having to work with their children on school work.

Yet God had already given me a word for her. Last Thursday I went out to check the mail at the church and was walking back in when I saw it. It was a painted rock with “God’s Got This” written on it. It wasn’t very big, but it carried a huge message on it. I took a picture of it so I would have it to look at and share when the time came.

I sent a picture of that rock to Chandra and told her – ‘Someone dropped this off at the church yesterday. Something you can hold to at this time and in the coming days.’ She said thanks and let me know she was trusting God in the midst of this time.

I recognize that saying we are going to trust God and trusting Him are two different things. When the struggles of life come our way we have to surrender our will to His and let Him lead us along the path that is set out before us. It can be difficult to trust God when the struggles come against us.

In the midst of the struggle Jesus had in the Garden, He cried out to the Father to ‘let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt.’ (Mt. 26:39). Then in v.42, He prayed a second time saying, ‘My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Thy will be done.’ Jesus knew the Father had the situation in hand.

After the lame beggar was healed, Peter and John were arrested. In Acts 4:10-12 Peter told the elders and rulers, 10 “Let it be known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead – by this name this man stands here before you in good health. 11 He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the very cornerstone. 12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.”

In Acts 4:19-20 it says – “But Peter and John answered and said to them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge; 20 for we cannot stop speaking what we have seen and heard.” Basically what they were saying was that “God’s Got This”. No matter what lay in front of them they knew that God was there for them.

From those who have been infected with the virus to parents teaching their children, to doctors, nurses, EMS workers and others responding to this virus, “God’s Got This.” He didn’t say it would be easy, but He did say He would be with us. So, when you struggle in this time, just know that God’s Got This!

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
