Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Just when you think you have things all figured out, something happens to let you know you don’t. Let me explain. As many knew, Joshua and Danielle were having a new addition to their family. Everything was set except for one thing – they didn’t want to know whether it was a girl or a boy.
Since it was to be a surprise we waited all wondering what we would find. If it was a boy it would be the first time in four generations that there were two boys in the family. Of course, Sutton was hoping for a boy and Harper was hoping for a girl.
So, on the day of delivery, Vicki took Harper and Sutton to the west side of BSA and watched to see whether the sign would be blue with “It’s a Boy” or pink with “It’s a Girl”. When the sign finally went up, Harper was jumping around so happy and Sutton hung his head and just walked away!
Yes, it was a girl. She weighed 7 lbs 11oz. The strange thing about it is that was exactly the weight of both Harper and Sutton when they were born. But the struggle wasn’t over. They hadn’t decided on a name for the baby whether it was a boy or girl. So, we waited to find that out.
It took them until the next morning to finalize her name. Yet we were finally free to announce that Millie Monroe Nachtigall was born at 3:56 PM on September 23, 2021. When they announced her name I told them that she would be my M&M but Vicki said that wasn’t going to happen. Fortunately, I get to call her M&M at times but we just call her Millie.
She was named after Vicki’s mother and Danielle’s grandpa on her Dad’s side. Vicki’s mother is still with us but Danielle’s grandpa is gone on. I believe it is a great tribute to both of them. But I am really excited that Millie is here and she is doing well.
Vicki and I now have 13 grandkids! There are now 8 girls and 5 boys! I will have to admit that having another boy would have been great, but another girl is also great. All the Nachtigall girls down through the years have brought so much love and joy into the family it wouldn’t be the same without them.
I love each of my grandchildren. I look at them and smile as I consider what they have brought into our lives. Yes, I know they wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for our 5 children. But regardless of their age, our grandchildren bring a special joy into our lives.
Psalm 127:3 says – “Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; The fruit of the womb is a reward.” I am so thankful that God has blessed us with each of them. It really keeps us on our toes making sure that we remember each birthday as well as everything else they have going on in their lives. But we are truly blessed.
By the way, we do have one great grandson. Cal is almost 3 years old and just growing so much. He is also a blessing for us as well. Right now the boys have a one up in the great-grandchildren but I am relatively confident that the girls will take that area as well.
Regardless of whether it is a boy or girl – it is a gift of the Lord. So we welcome our newest gift – Millie Monroe – into the family!
JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!
Christ only, always,
Bro. Paul
