Finding Your Way

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Well, Vicki and I made it back home.  We drove over 2800 miles on this trip.  We went through some pretty big places and took a bunch of exits that would take us down another road.  Vicki’s mother had her map out.  She even said it was next to the Bible!  But Vicki had another friend she used.

Vicki has now stepped into the world of Siri.  It wasn’t bad going up to Rochester, but coming home was another story.  Vicki would punch in our destination and we would follow the directions.  It really didn’t hit me how goofy Siri was until we got to Nashville.

We were going along the road and saw the turnoff for the Grand Ole Opry, but Siri said to go to the next turnoff.  We did and then she told us to turn here and there until we finally ended up back at the first turn off we would have taken.  Let me tell you that my German blood was pretty much boiling at that point.

Then we left the Grand Ole Opry and headed for the Country Music Hall of Fame.  I started to think that Siri had been ‘tipping the bottle’ because of the way we went.  Oh, we finally made it, but this old country boy was about to lose it!  On Siri’s behalf I will have to say that there was a great deal of road construction going on which made it tough.

Siri seemed to be right on target as we left Nashville and headed for Memphis.  We were able to get to our hotel and bedded down for the night with no problem except our hotel was right beside an IKEA store.  Fortunately we didn’t have a trailer to bring anything home from there!

As I thought about all the ‘goofy’ directions that Siri had given us, my mind began to think about the directions we get about coming to Christ.  Some people say that if you will go to a certain church that will be enough.  Others believe that as long as they go to church once a week that will get them there.

Others say that if you will read your Bible every day that will be enough.  Still others believe that since they prayed a prayer when they were young that is enough and they don’t have to go to church.  That sounds a lot like something Siri would say.

Scripture is clear on how we are saved.  Peter said in Acts 4:10 -12 – “10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by this name this man stands here before you in good health.  11 He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone.  12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

Then Paul clearly states in Romans 10:9-10 – “9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”

As you surrender to Jesus as Lord, you will find that you are on the right path.  Siri or someone else may try to take you down the wrong road, but follow Jesus and you will find your way home.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
