Be Praying

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Monday began the new school year for Pampa ISD. I know other schools have already begun and others will begin this next week. It is an exciting time and yet a time that is filled with questions that will be answered in the coming days.

I know that some students are so excited about getting back to be with their friends. When this pandemic is going to end is not their question. They are only asking when they can go back to school! They are excited about being able to be together with their friends.

I do know that some students will be learning from home until things get less crazy. They won’t be interacting with their classmates and will be spending time ‘in school’ on a screen. This will be different and things will seem a little weird.

I also realize that all parents are concerned about what the coming days will hold for their children. They have questioned whether to send the kids to school or keep them home to learn. There has been a great deal of struggles with what the best answer will be for their children.

Then there are the teachers. I can’t help but believe they are going a little crazy! They have worked diligently to prepare for this school year. With some students in the classroom and others at home, they are determining what will be the best way to help their students. It will be different and a little tough there is no doubt.

Because of what each of them will be facing in the coming days, I would urge each person to pray for the students and teachers in the best ways you can. Pray for the students that whether they are learning from home or going to school that they will learn all they need to move forward in their education.

If you know a teacher, you might write them a note of encouragement and let them know that you are praying for them. If you don’t really know any, simply pray for teachers as they face the unknowns of this school year. Things are going to be difficult and they will need people praying for them and standing with them during the coming days.

Let me share with you a prayer for the students and teachers:

Dear Lord Jesus, as this school year begins, You fully understand what the children need. As a child on this earth You listened to Your teachers and asked them questions, increasing them in wisdom and stature. Bless each student that they may learn what they need in each new day. Help them to grow in the knowledge of You as they learn new things at each level of learning.

Bless those who teach, that they may share the wisdom they have received from above and that they may do their work with patience and love that reflect your mercy that endures forever. As the Great Teacher, move each teacher to share the learning they have received with each student so that they learn and move forward.

Fill the hearts of each student with wonder and excitement as they see You working through their learning. As they see Your divine design in math and science, your hand in history, or the beauty of art and music may they see You in it all.

As we learn to know our neighbors, their hopes, their hurts, their needs, may Your love flow through us to them. To those families that struggle in these times may we be there for them. Help us to lift them up in prayer and encourage them with love.

Your Word in Proverbs 9:10 also tells us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” By Your power, help each one increase in wisdom and protect them as they seek to learn new things. Give teachers strength and students calmness of spirit. May You be glorified in all that takes place. In Jesus name, Amen.

As school starts, will you pray for the teachers and students as they embark on this new school year?

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
