Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

This Christmas season has been wild to this point.  As I sit down to write this, I am listening to Vicki talk with her parents on the phone about when they are going to be here for Christmas.  Vicki’s sister, husband and their daughter, Hannah will be here.  Now we know that her brothers are coming as well.

I am excited about all that is going to take place and everyone that we are going to be able to see.  Randy, Chandra, Noah and Dakota are driving in from Rochester, NY.    Of course all four of the other kids and grandkids will be here as well.

We will get to spend time with the family and share all that has been going on with everyone.  I am looking forward to spending time with all of them.  God has truly blessed us with a wonderful family.

It looks like we will be filled up at the Nachtigall house this Christmas!  I know that some won’t be able to be there all the time and some won’t get to see others except for a short time, but we will be filled with love for each other.

I got a text from Caitlyn, Candice’s oldest daughter, the other day and she said, “Hello Papa!! I just wanted to say hi and I love you so much!  Can’t wait to see you soon (followed by four hearts!).  I showed Vicki and she said, “She didn’t send MeMaw a text!”

I’m sure she didn’t send MeMaw a text, but I can assure you that Caitlyn and all the grandkids love their MeMaw.  It will just be a great time having them all here to share in this special time with us.

As I thought about the text Caitlyn sent me and the response that Memaw had, it made me stop and think.  In Luke 2:8-15 there is the account of when the angel appeared to the shepherds.  It was dark and quiet before the angel came then all heaven broke loose.

The angel said to them – “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  12 and this will be a sign for you; you will find a baby wrapped in cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

The angelic announcement came to the shepherds where they were watching their flocks.  But then said to them that the ‘good news of great joy was for all the people.’  Yes, the angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, but the news was for the innkeeper, the residents of Bethlehem, the soldiers, and for ‘all the people’.

I know that Caitlyn sent me that wonderful text that let me know how much she loved me!  Yet I also know that it revealed how much she loved her MeMaw and the rest of her family.  I just happened to be the one that got the text.

The angelic announcement may have come to the shepherds a long time ago, but it still resounds through the world today.  God sent His Son which is ‘good news for all the people!”  Just remember today that God loves you and His desire is for you to know Him.  This Christmas let His love come alive within you.  Have a Blessed Christmas!

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
