A Promise

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

It is my hope and prayer that everyone in Pampa and the surrounding area is able to stand against this coronavirus that has impacted our nation. I recognize that in the Amarillo area we have had some that have tested positive for this virus. I am praying for them and their families as they walk through this time.

I am so thankful that God has given us the ability to reach out with His message via Facebook, YouTube, as well as live streaming for some church families. It gives me peace in the midst of this time just knowing that people can hear the message God has for them.

Yet it is tough on me not to be able to see our church family sitting in the pews and sharing with one another. I can only imagine how difficult this is on those who have been faithful through the years to be in the services. Yet I know that God is working in all things.

Romans 8:28 says – “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” When Paul wrote these words to the church in Rome there was no evidence that the Covid-19 would be impacting our world at this time. Yet God will work in it all.

Psalm 28:6-9 says – 6 “Blessed be the Lord, because He has heard the voice of my supplication. 7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him. 8 The Lord is their strength, and He is a saving defense to His anointed. 9 Save Thy people, and bless Thine inheritance; be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.”

I’m sure that David was not thinking about a virus when he wrote those words. Yet I am positive that he knew that whatever this world would bring against him, he could stand knowing God was with him. The struggles David experienced were difficult to say the least, yet his trust was in God and the deliverance He promised.

One of my favorite verses is found in Isaiah 40 as Isaiah is talking about the greatness of God. Much is said of how God overcomes the things in this world and brings the victory to those who trust in Him. My favorite verses come at the end of that chapter.

Isaiah 40:28-31 – 28 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired, His understanding is inscrutable. 29 He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. 30 Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, 31 Yet, those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.”

I recognize that we don’t know what the coming days may hold, but I assure you that we can know who holds the coming days! God will be there for all who call out to Him and will carry us through to what He has prepared for us.

As you face the coming days, place your trust in the Lord. He will be there to give you ‘new strength’. You will be able to ‘run and not get tired…walk and not become weary.’ That my friend is a promise we can count on!

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
