Ultimate Wellness

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

This has been a rough time for so many. We have seen people impacted by the loss of their loved one. It has brought sorrow to their lives. They have struggled with the emotions of the separation they are now experiencing. It is such a difficult time for them as they go through this time.

Then there are those that are being impacted by sickness. It just seems like with each passing day the sickness that is going around just continues to increase. People are waking up with a cough that won’t go away. Others have a temperature that reaches 103 then goes down to 100 for several days in a row.

Vicki received a message that her Dad had been taken to the hospital in Caldwell, KS. He was experiencing issues that took his strength and would not allow him to keep any food down. She didn’t waste any time in getting things lined out and heading to Medford to see her Dad and Mom.

Bob is home now but still experiencing issues that won’t allow him to build up his strength. Eating goes pretty well for a bit, but then he begins to cough and ultimately is unable to hold the food down. Of course, this has caused him to be dehydrated. So the battle continues on.

We have had others in our family that have faced the flu and flu like symptoms since Christmas. As you read this, you probably know someone that has been having issues with a sickness of some type. Whether it’s a cough, fever, flu or something else, it doesn’t ever seem to be ‘easy’ to bear up under it.

This ‘flu season’ seems to be striking pretty hard in nearly every state. I’m not sure what needs to be done at this point but I know that some of the issues can be treated with antibiotics. Of course, we can make sure we wash our hands and not touch anything that might be infected. Yet that won’t take care of everything.

As I considered all the things that sickness takes from us it made me think of all that satan desires to do to us. In John 10:10 Jesus shares something insightful that we continually need to hear and make sure we understand.

He says, 10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” He makes it clear that satan’s desire is to bring us down and separate us from God. He desires to take away all that God wants for our lives.

Satan desires not only to bring us down but to keep us down. I’m not going to say that a cough, sore throats, the flu, and other sickness is something that satan does, but I can say that it causes us issues that he can use to take us away from where God wants us to be.

Years ago, I heard someone say that satan is a ‘suck egg mule’. I can tell you that satan will do all he can to suck the joy of the Lord out of our lives. His desire is to ‘steal, kill and destroy’ our souls. He wants to bring us down.

What we must do is make sure that we focus on the last part of John 10:10 that says ---- “…..I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Jesus desires to bring us more in life and to ensure that we have all of the life that God desires for us.

The abundant life Jesus refers to is spiritual. He wants us to focus on that promise of life eternal. There is no doubt that we will encounter the sickness that seems to take over in our lives at times, but we must focus on the abundant life that Jesus offers those who will come to Him.

So, as you or someone you know encounters the sickness of the season, do all you can to provide the proper care that is needed. But remember that the ultimate wellness is found in Jesus. He loves you and will always be there for you. So trust Him.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
