Trust Those God Sends

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Just a reminder – VICKI IS RETIRED!  I told someone on Sunday that she is retired and I am tired!  In actuality, she has always had so much energy I would wonder where it came from.  But even more I would wonder how I was going to keep up!

She said that she wanted to retire so she could spend more time with the grandkids.  That is something that she absolutely loves to do and it is definitely something that she is going to do.

This weekend we have Piper Faith.  Piper is 17 months old and has so much energy that it is amazing.  I have no idea how in the world that little body can go so much and not just absolutely wear out.  But she just keeps going and going.

She gets a little distracted at times.  She can be playing with a toy then up she goes to the pictures, pulls a picture of Amayah off the shelf and talks to her.  She will set the picture down and go back to playing, but it won’t be long and she will be back to the picture.

The only one she really plays with is Amayah’s.  It may because they do get to see each other a little more than the other grandkids.  I’m kind of glad because I would be a nervous because of all the pictures she would be picking up.

Piper is definitely a bundle of energy, but I will say she is a joy.  She just loves to go up to people and “talk” with them.  You may not be able to understand her at this point, but that doesn’t stop her from talking to you.

For a time she was really reserved around me, but we got past that.  We were at a dance recital and she sat on my lap nearly the whole time.  She might go to her Memaw or Mama for a moment but then it was back to Papa.  She let me carry her all around.  She trusted me to be there for her.  It was definitely a turning point for us.

I know her life now and in the coming days will be filled with a number of different things.  As she grows, her interests will change and she will play with different toys, dolls and kids.  Truth is that is what I want for her.  To be filled with love that comes out in relationships with those she meets.

Yet, there is one thing that I pray will never change.  I always want her to know that Memaw and Papa love her for who she is and what God is doing in her.  I want her to trust us to be there for her no matter what she may be experiencing.

In the midst of all that is going on in our world, I want Piper (and each of our grandkids) to know that Papa and Memaw’s love will be there for them.  I want them to know that they can trust us to walk with them through the struggles they face in life as well as times filled with joy and happiness.

But above all, I want each of our grandkids to know that God will never leave them nor forsake them. (Heb. 13:5b).  I want them to know that the way to live their life is to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.” Prov. 3:5

When Piper is with us and unsure about what is going on, she looks to her Memaw because she knows that Memaw loves her and won’t let anything happen to her.  She looks at Papa like that when Memaw isn’t around.  But I hope that one day she will trust us both to take care of her wherever she is or whatever she finds herself facing in life.

While God will always be there for each of us, He has sent others into our lives that we can trust to be there as well.  Sometimes they are called Memaw and Papa.  The important thing is to trust those God sends.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
