Life God's Way

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

It’s been a long week to say the least.  We came home from OKC with the understanding that everything went well with Vicki’s Dad.  Bob had good vitals following the surgery and the doctor was very thorough in his explanation as to what he had done and how things had gone.

Vicki and I came home relieved how things had gone.  Then Thursday afternoon came and Vicki got the call.  Bob had taken a turn for the worse.  His lungs filled up and his kidneys basically shut down.  Vicki ran out of the clinic and headed home.  They called me and told me what she had done and I headed home.

When I got to the house, Vicki was crying and just trying to get things lined out.  I threw some clothes in a bag and we jumped in the car and took off.  Vicki told me that she didn’t care how fast I drove; she just wanted to get there.  I got into the flow of traffic on I-40 and kind of led the way.

When we got to the Heart Hospital, Vicki immediately jumped out of the car and ran in.  Bob was struggling.  The issues hadn’t changed much from when they called, but the nurse said that he was stable at this time and things seemed to be moving in a good direction.

They were keeping him sedated and watching his vitals closely.  It was a tough day but he remained strong.  Vicki stayed and I went back to Pampa on Friday but came back to OKC on Sunday.  As I write this, things seem to be going well, but they are taking it slow.

I realize that by the time you read this, things could have moved in any direction.  Yet, we are trusting that God will work in this time to bring about His perfect will.

Sure, we want Bob to be here with us and to continue to share Christ with all he encounters.  We want to laugh at the things he does and be amazed at the strength he exhibits.  We want to hear his voice ask how we are doing and ask about all the grand kids and great grand’s.

The truth is that we want God’s will for this time.  While we want him to rise up from this bed of affliction, we want the life he has lived for Christ to be at the front at this time.  I believe that is what he wants as well.  He wants the name of Jesus lifted up.

I believe it was like the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 2:19 -- 20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”

Bob has lived his life for Christ ever since he was saved.  He has led so many to know Jesus as their Savior.  He has discipled many, including me, in their walk with Christ.  He has been instrumental in several surrendering to full time ministry.  He has sought to live his life God’s way.

I'm not sure how this part of his life will go at this time, but one thing is for sure, he would say with the Apostle Paul – “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21).

What an awesome testimony for all of us to be able to say that we lived life God’s way.  How are you doing?

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
