Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

In our service Sunday morning I shared about the Sanctity of Human Life. I realize that there are many different views as to how this actually comes about, but for me there is only one. In many ways it is very simple, but in its simplicity it points to the differences that we face.

Of course I am pro-life. I believe that every child that is conceived is a gift of God and should be protected. I believe that life begins at conception. From that moment the hand of God is upon the child that has been conceived and should be protected.

My text on Sunday was from Psalm 139:13-16. The Psalmist clearly states how the hand of God was upon them and brought about the person he was. It is such a wonderful explanation of how God works that I want to share it with you. It says ----

13 For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Thy works, and my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from Thee. When I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. 16 Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.”

I realize that it is difficult for us to imagine what takes place within a woman’s body as she carries the little one conceived within her. God places everything together and the cells are formed into a baby that ultimately makes its way into this world. The child may not always be perfect in man’s eyes, but truly perfect in God’s eyes.

Vicki and I have been blessed with 5 beautiful children (and spouses), 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild at this point. I can’t even imagine what life would be without any one of them. As I think about them I am totally convinced that God brought them to us. He formed them in the womb and brought them into our lives.

We can say that we know that life begins at a certain point. We can say that we are sure that God desires things to be a certain way. Others will stand to say that it is their right to end the life of a child. Or as is happening in some areas to bring to end the life of someone that is going through a sickness or disease.

It is not my desire to bring up a divisive subject at this time. Yet I do believe as the Psalmist pointed out in Psalm 139 that God is the One who ‘didst weave me in my mother’s womb.’ It is my prayer, my hope, my desire that all of those that God has formed will be able to live the life He desires for them.

A major league baseball player hit the ball far out in left field. Bases were loaded. The one who was on 2nd base made it all the way to home plate and he collided with the catcher. Immediately, the one team yelled, "He's safe." The other team yelled, "He's out". Upon looking at both teams the umpire calmly announced, "He ain't nothing til I call him."

The issue is not how you and I feel about the sanctity of life, but it's how God feels. It's not how you and I call it, but it's how God calls it. God created man in His image and desires to be a part of our lives on a moment by moment basis.

There are some who are struggling with the fact that they have gone through an abortion. I just want to say that God’s love for you has not changed. He loves you and desires for you to begin that walk with Him that will forever change your life. Just know you are loved.

Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (Jn. 10:10). Just know that is His desire for you personally.

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
