Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The Nachtigall house was crazy this weekend!  I know that some may think that we are the goofiest family around.  We’re not, but it isn’t because we haven’t tried!

Candice, Caitlyn, Camryn and Timothy came out on Friday to stay until Sunday afternoon.  Charity was excited because Scout had games in White Deer on Friday and Saturday.  Bryan and Lance came for the games so they all came over.  Mackenzie, a friend of Scout’s came as well.

Chasity changed her plans so she and Amayah could be here.  Of course, Joshua and Danielle were here with Harper and Sutton.  All in all, four of the kids and eight of the grandkids were here.  It was a pretty exciting time.

Vicki dreamed up something for them to do that was a little different.  We had a ping pong tournament on Saturday afternoon.  We had the ping pong table between our house and our ever so patient neighbors, Don and Pat.  They were so gracious to put up with us.

Everyone but Sutton and I had a part in the tournament.  It got pretty wild at times but everyone had fun.  Timothy, Harper and Amayah had their bracket and Timothy got the first place ribbon.  Amayah and Harper were so excited that they got ribbons that it didn’t matter what place they ended up.

The other bracket included everyone else.  Since it was double elimination, I was beginning to wonder if it would ever end.  It was fun to watch everyone trying to get their hits where they wanted them.  It was a battle in every match.

Finally the championship match came around.  Joshua and Camryn were playing each other.  I couldn’t believe that the intensity was still there, but it was.  I will have to say that Camryn did a great job, but Joshua walked away with the first place ribbon.

Looking back now I don’t think it made any difference to anyone whether they won or not.  Everyone was just glad to be a part of this epic family time.  I believe they were just happy to know that they would be able to look back on this special time.

As I look back over the weekend it was good.  The company was good.  The games were good.  The food was good.  The weather was good (hot, but good).  We were able to visit, laugh and just have an all-around good time.  All in all, just being together made all the effort worthwhile.

As I considered that, I thought about our time together as God’s family.  As we gather in the name of Jesus, we can have a good time.  We are able to visit, laugh and truly enjoy the blessing of being together.  As we focus on what God is doing in our lives and in our midst we can simply relax in Him.

When we look into God’s Word it is truly challenging, yet just knowing that we are together is great.  When we hear people sharing through song, we are blessed.  When we gather to pray we are encouraged.

Matthew 18:20 says -- “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”  When we gather in the name of Jesus, it is not just us.  He is there with us and in Him we are a part of God’s family!  That makes it so good.

I was born into the Nachtigall family which is good, but being ‘born again’ through faith in Jesus Christ into God’s family gives me great joy.  Are you part of His family?

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
