God Will Be With You

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Recent days have been difficult.  There have been issues with sickness for some, surgeries for others and then the death of family members for others.  That doesn’t even factor in the struggles our nation is facing.  It just seems that it has been difficult in many ways.

There are times at night when I lay in bed and quietly listen for the Lord to speak.  He speaks to my heart and I find strength to go one more day.  Yet satan continues to rise up.  His desire is to throw me off the course to which God has called me.

I know my struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of the air.  I’m sure as you read this you recall a struggle you are in or have been in.  Satan seeks to deceive so that the lives of God’s people are less effective than God desires.

It seems that whenever trouble rises in our lives, we focus so much on the trouble that everything else is out of focus.  It’s like getting a rock in your shoe.  Once that rock gets in there the discomfort it causes won’t allow you to focus on anything else.  The only solution is to get that rock out!

Joshua was a man that was headed for some tough times.  His life was filled with demands that caused him some concern.  The position to which he had been called was important to the work of God.  He was concerned whether he had the ability to fulfill the calling in his life.

But God spoke words of encouragement to him as he prepared to lead the people of Israel.  In Joshua 1:5 God says, “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life.  Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.”  This comes as God is sharing with him that there will be ‘rocks in his shoes’, but as Joshua remains strong and courageous God will be with him.

We, as Christians, are standing at the edge of the land that is promised.  God is calling us to be strong and courageous, with the understanding that He will not fail us nor forsake us.  Satan is going to come against us as we move toward the land of promise.  He will use whatever he can to bring troubles and trials to our lives in order to stop the work.

We must understand that no man will be able to stand before us all the days of our life as we seek God.  Just as God has been with His servants in the past, He will not fail or forsake us.  So I am determined, by the power and authority of Christ to move forward.  My desire is to be obedient to the Father, walking with the Son, and following the leadership of Holy Spirit.

I may not do things the way others would do them, but I will seek to fulfill my calling in alignment with Christ’s purpose in my life.  I will preach the Word, hold to the Word, and seek to live the Word.  I will remember - “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life.  Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.”  I’ve got confidence that God is going to be with me.  How about you?

JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, there IS something about that name!

Christ only, always,

Bro. Paul
